How I'm Getting Rid of 2018 Things in 2018 #2018MinGame
How am I getting rid of 2018 things in the last couple months of 2018? Using the classic #MinimalismGame format, of course! Let me walk you through how you can do it, too, and give you an update on my minimalism journey so far (3 years in the making)!
How am I getting rid of 2018 things in the last couple months of 2018? Using the classic #MinimalismGame format, of course! Let me walk you through how you can do it, too, and give you an update on my minimalism journey so far (3 years in the making)!
What is the 2018 Minimalism Game #2018MinGame Challenge?
Well, the basic premise is that I will be doing my very best to get rid of 2018 items in the remaining few months of 2018.
…
That’s pretty much it.
But HOW are you going to do it?
Ok fine, I’ll elaborate. I’m getting inspiration from The Minimalists and their 30 Day Minimalism Game, the classic month long challenge in which you get rid of one thing on day one, two things on day two, three things on day three, and on and on until you hit day thirty! In the 30 Day Minimalism Game, you get rid of 465 items total (if you make it to the end).
So, I’m just doing the EXTREME version of that same concept. Instead of getting rid of 465 things in 30 days, I will be getting rid of 2018 things by December 31st, 2018 (in approximately 4 months or 122 days).
Now technically I would only need 64 days to complete this challenge using the method set out by The Minimalists on their blog. But I’m trying to be realistic here. Clearly. So I’m doubling my time to ensure success! (This is wishful thinking at it’s finest but just go with it).
This challenge is ridiculous. I fully admit it. BUT when the idea popped into my head I just new I had to try it. To be honest, I don’t know if I even own 2018 things. But I’m going to find out! And I’m going to get rid of a lot of crap along the way. I’ve completed the first 10 days of my challenge so far, and purged 55 items! It feels so refreshing to be actively decluttering again. You can see the first 55 items I decided to part with in this video (skip to 20:18 to start with Day One - no really, that’s actually the time stamp. I couldn’t have planned it better if I tried.)
So join in, if you feel like a challenge, and tag #2018MinGame on social media so I can see how you’re doing! I’ll be updating you on my progress primarily on my Instagram, so follow me there if you haven’t already!
Check out the video I made for my YouTube channel to get a more thorough overview and to see what I decluttered for the first 10 days (totalling 55 items) along with my 3 year minimalism update! Watch the video here on my blog or hop on over to YouTube (and subscribe, while you’re at it! wink wink)
Ok, that's it! Happy decluttering.
Until next time,

I asked on instagram if you preferred to see Tombow art or watercolour art, and a bunch of you said you liked both.
I decided to do the majority of my spreads using Tombow Dual Brush Pens and one watercolour painting so there's a little something for everyone!
And then my watercolour mushrooms...
As a disclaimer, I am a beginner when it comes to watercolour! I have only painted a handful of projects with watercolours and am still learning :) That being said, I loved creating these cartoony mushrooms for my quote page!
They're super cartoony and I love that!
On to my monthly spread...
...which I had a lot of fun with!
I created a different variation of the S from the cover page for my header...
...and added a little quote...
...and some wildflowers from the woodland along the bottom.
I moved to a new kind of mood and sleep tracker this month and can't wait to give it a try!
I also love this little wildflower bear silhouette.
Last spread, as always, is my weekly.
I use a rolling weekly layout (which I explain here).
And I included a small habit tracker on my weekly:
